]]>NAME: The Tennessee Brewery
LOCATION: Memphis
FAVORITE BEER: Pearl of Memphis
The Tennessee Brewery is filled with history that represents the art and culture of Memphis. Most of the establishment are actually made up of apartments. There are taprooms that feature their latest beer. We recommend this more for the unique experience.
NAME: Southern Grist Brewing Company
LOCATION: Nashville
FAVORITE BEER: There Gose Train
You can have a lot of fun at the Southern Grist Brewing Company. Both of their taprooms are a bit more modern, equipped with great food and plenty of space for friends. The staff is all about fun, so it’s a pretty cool experience here.
NAME: Crafty Bastard Brewery
LOCATION: Knoxville
FAVORITE BEER: Tessellation IPA
Considered more of a hangout spot, Crafty Bastard Brewery isn’t really known for tours or anything. Hang here for a couple of hours for the full experience.
NAME: Tennessee Brew Works
LOCATION: Nashville
FAVORITE BEER: Secret City Imperial IPA
Not to play favorites, but Brew Works might be at the top of our list (we just haven’t decided yet). The one word that comes to mind when we hear their name is quality. Their beer is delicious and where the taproom lacks in energy (which isn’t by much), it more than makes up for in taste and consistency across all their beers.
NAME: Depot Street Brewing
LOCATION: Jonesborough
FAVORITE BEER: Necronomicon Ex-Mortis
Talk about a brewery that invests in their blends… you can find some really unique (and interesting) beers over at Depot Street Brewing. The brewery itself is on the smaller side, but the staff is really nice, and they offer tours and such. The taproom is as great as their beers, since that’s what they serve. This is kind of a must for connoisseurs.
NAME: Fanatic Brewing Company
LOCATION: Knoxville
FAVORITE BEER: Fanatic IPA
As with many other artisan breweries, the Fanatics do this simply. It’s all about the product and in this case, they’ve got something great in their corner. Visit them for the array of blends, from pale ales, to sours and stouts they have quality batches of them all!
NAME: Jackalope Brewing Company
LOCATION: Nashville
FAVORITE BEER: Fennario IPA
There’s something to be said about a brewery with personality and that’s just what you get with Jackalope Brewing. You just know the staff is like a family and it shows when you see the work they put in. They might not have the most extensive selection of brews, but all are of a high quality and when it comes down to it, you can never go wrong with one as a choice. They do tours for both of their sites on Friday and Saturday afternoons.
NAME: Geezers Brewing Co
LOCATION: Knoxville
FAVORITE BEER: Geezer Scotch Ale
Great beer and a nice crowd. What more could you want? Geezers Brewing has a fun place that features cool games with occasion giveaways. It’s the little things that keep fans coming back. This is a must-visit.
NAME: Cool Springs Brewery
LOCATION: Franklin
FAVORITE BEER: Juicebox Hazy IPA
Cool Springs is more of a hangout spot. It’s a great sports bar substitute, with plenty of space to hang out. Fully equipped with a buffet, you can have lunch and drinks, no need to go anywhere else!
NAME: Tennessee Valley Brewing Company
LOCATION: Clarksville
FAVORITE BEER: Snake Eater IPA
Tennessee Valley Brewing Co is your favorite sports bar and an awesome brewery all in one! They ave live music and food trucks on-site often and are great for catching college football (or the Titans, if you’re into that). But best of all, they have like 20+ beers on tap at a time!

]]>Narrowing the list to 10 wasn’t easy, so see what made these destinations breweries good enough to make the cut.
Name: Schooner Exact Brewing Co
Location: Seattle
Favorite Beer: ISE Kadoya Collab IPA
We very much consider Schooner to be a great local hangout. What better way to get a feel for Seattle culture? It features a good-sized venue fit for parties of all sizes but is compact enough for a cozy appeal. You can also find some great happy hour and app deals that make it fun and affordable.
Name: Seapine Brewing Company
Location: Seattle
Favorite Beer: Sea Witch Milk Stout
We love Seapine for its fun and inviting atmosphere (and their delicious beer too, of course)! The kid and pet-friendly taproom offers a calm and laid back energy that complements their wide selection of beers. We’re particularly fond of their stouts due to their perfect harmony of flavor and consistency.
Name: Bale Breaker Brewing
Location: Yakima
Favorite Beer: Bottomcutter IPA
For the feel of the great outdoors, we strongly suggest you pay Bale Breaker a visit. The farm-inspired venue is on a wide-open plot of land that resembles a large barn. As fun and unique as the location is, we get even more excited about the beers they make. As good as their year-long beers are, they’ll always excite you with awesome seasonal blends.
Name: Optimism Brewing Company
Location: Seattle
Favorite Beer: Wee Mighty
The one thing that stood out about Optimism was the really wide variety of beers. Sure, the taproom was nice, more or less run of the mill, but we decided to choose Optimism because of the palate. This is particularly special because anyone who likes beer of any kind will find something new to enjoy, from light beer people to those who enjoy barrel-aged treats.
Name: Chuckanut Brewery
Location: Bellingham
Favorite Beer: Dunkel Lager
Chuckanut is an (almost) European-themed brewery/food stop that is well-known in the area for its award-winning beer. Like the theme, much of the beer is inspired by German, Irish and English (among many other) traditions, giving it a nice niche and a unique experience.
Name: Machine House Brewery
Location: Seattle
Favorite Beer: Spelt IPA (B-Day Beer)
Machine House Brewery is perhaps one of our favorite spots to visit during the summer. It’s like the brewery version of a picnic, you can bring dogs, kids, and your own food. They have a nice selection of year-round beers, as well as seasonal specials that never disappoint. Not a big beer person? They usually have local cider available too, making it a fun spot in the fall as well.
Name: Stoup Brewing
Location: Seattle
Favorite Beer: Fabulous IPA
One of the more well-known breweries in Seattle, Stoup prides itself on delicious scientifically conjured beers and an energetic atmosphere to match. The excitement surrounding beer (brewing and drinking) is evident from the staff, which is the kind of place that we always find to be very exciting. You can hang out and drink at the taproom, or relax outside and grab something to eat from the food truck.
Name: Populuxe Brewing Company
Location: Seattle
Favorite Beer: Populuxe IPA
Populuxe is a smaller establishment, which usually means two things: they like to specialize and they pay A LOT of attention to quality. Both are true in this case and we’re totally on board. Because they’re a smaller name, they focus more on local fun like trivia, so it’s a cool place to just hang out once in a while. There are usually really good food trucks in the afternoon too and they rotate so it’s different every time.
Name: Ghostfish Brewing Company
Location: Seattle
Favorite Beer: Kick Step IPA
A truly beautiful and modern brewery, Ghostfish resembles something of a trendsetter in the artisan craft beer industry. Their beers and food are gluten-free, which set off a new style of brewing and honestly, you wouldn’t know the difference. It’s also a great spot for lunch or brunch with places to sit outside right in the city.
Name: https://propolisbrewing.com/
Location: Port Townsend
Favorite Beer: Salah Ale
If you like a good ale, you’ll LOVE Propolis Brewing! They have a huge variety of farmhouse and barrel-aged ales, all with super unique feels and aromas. Their large venue can hold tons of people and is considered one of the best spots to “sample” organic-like brews. Their beer takes a while to make and you can taste it.

]]>The post The 10 Must-Visit Breweries In Texas appeared first on Newton Search.
]]>Location: Austin, Texas
Favorite Beer: Noble King
Arguably the best place Texas tasting room for strong, aged beer. Then there’s the kitchen, and oh my is it tasty. They’re known for their variety of personal pizzas that vary from meaty to sweet and we condone all that we’ve tried, which was only a few. Bottom line, this is a solid place to visit for a fun afternoon.
Location: Conroe, Texas
Favorite Beer: Conspiracy Theory IPA
Southern Star is a great place to try a nice variety of beers. We’re particularly fond of their IPAs, which seems to really stand out from the crows. Their brewery tours are limited to Saturdays from 2-4pm, but their taproom is open every day but Mondays and Tuesdays. Like many modern taprooms, it’s a decent size with the fun atmosphere you would expect to complement the awesome beer they brew. Fortunately, it doesn’t get crazy crowded (all the time), so it usually makes for a pretty chill occasion.
Location: Garland, Texas
Favorite Beer: Grim Shearer
Lakewood offers more than just good beer, they present that fun Texas vibe which makes them a little different. We like that. They do brewery tours during Saturday afternoons, but most go for the tap rooms. There are two that are open 7 days per week.
Location: Alpine, Texas
Favorite Beer: La Frontera
We thought Big Bend presented a unique twist to the typical brewery experience. They have fun for the whole family and even allow dogs outside, which only makes things feel more inclusive. At the end of the day, you have groups getting to know each other which basically makes the whole thing a more pleasant social gathering which is refreshing. Speaking of refreshing, their beer isn’t too bad either, and that’s what got them on this list!
Location: Keller, Texas
Favorite Beer: Shannon Love ‘n Haze IPA
We are big fans of Shannon’s IPAs and Stouts (not to discount the rest of their beers). They offer a pretty wide variety of beers in the tap room and also allow for kids and (good) dogs. Their taproom/beer garden is open every day but Monday and Tuesday, so we recommend giving them a shot.
Location: Austin, Texas
Favorite Beer: Live Oak Primus Weizenbock
So here’s the thing, for whatever reason Live Oak doesn’t allow tours of their brewery. We know, lame, but that doesn’t mean you can’t visit their taproom! This is much more inclusive, allowing children and pets. The location also couldn’t be much better, just a few miles from the Austin International Airport.
Location: Blanco, Texas
Favorite Beer: Axis IPA
Looking for a fun tour? Real Ale can offer it to you. As a matter of fact, the tours are free on Fridays and Saturdays. The catch is you’re going to end up buying a bunch of beers. We were ok with that! Most of the action is outside in their hangout area. They have a great selection of seasonal beers, our personal favorites are their coffee porter, which is an exceptional winter beer. Preferably as the last beer of the night, kind of like a nightcap.
Location: Granbury, Texas
Favorite Beer: Mullet Cutter
Get ready because Freetail Brewing gives their tours from 12-3pm PROMPT! Tour lasts for an hour or so, then there’s food available and lots of fun to be had outside by the picnic tables. Revolver has all the variety for those with interests that transcends beer. I mean, come on it can’t transcend THAT MUCH but we’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. This includes outdoor games, live music, and parties.
Location: San Antonio, Texas
Favorite Beer: Soul Doubt IPA
Freetail is a really fun, energetic kind of brewery. Then there’s the brewpub which has a similar vibe that just makes the experience a little more fun. They also have weekly and daily specials and a shop full of awesome merch! Our favorites are the growler discounts because for whatever reason many breweries have a thing about not selling beer for the road. Some of us like to savor the goods, but whatever.
Location: Dallas, Texas
Favorite Beer: Notorious O.A.T.
The brewery is fun and all, but you know what helped Four Corners make the list? The BEER! They have a wide variety and a good portion of the year-round brews are available on tap at their taproom! They also offer free brewery tours, and have plenty of space for additional activities. But all in all, go for the beer, it’s really really good!

]]>Stone Brewing
Location: Escondido, California
Favorite Beer: Fear. Movie. Lions Double IPA
More than just a respected craft brewery, Stone offers a very wide selection of beer! They have a really cool (one of our favorites!) tap room, which is open from 11AM – 9PM. There are tons of tables and the design has a unique modern feel, making it a top hang-out spot. There’s an outdoor and indoor area, providing tons of space, which we feel other breweries should definitely learn from.
Ballast Point Brewing Company
Location: San Diego, California
Favorite Beer: Manta Ray
Ballast Point is one of California’s oldest breweries. Established in 1992, it resides in San Diego and has become a top destination for beer enthusiasts, artists, and lovers of the outdoors. They do a lot for their community, so the vibes are always very positive, which is nice to see from such a large business. Their distribution is national now, most of those breweries become a little less laid back, but not Ballast.
What can we say about Ballast Point’s “Little Italy“. The kettle room is a really cool place to enjoy gourmet dining with a group of friends. Perfect for events!
Russian River Brewing Company
Location: Santa Rosa, California
Favorite Beer: Pliny The Elder
If you like barrel-aged beers, Russian River is the spot for you. They don’t do tours in their downtown location, but as far as we’re concerned, that doesn’t stop visitors from enjoying a unique experience! They also have a new Windsor location under construction.
To top it all off, they have a little pub with food that goes GREAT with their beer. It’s nothing too crazy but their cheesy garlic bread, pliny bites, and so on are the perfect inexpensive addition to a fun day at a nice brewery. In closing, don’t go to the brewery without stopping by the pub!
Alpine Beer Company
Location: Alpine, California
Favorite Beer: Hoppy Birthday
It’s the sanctuary for Indian Pale Ales. Alpine is HANDS DOWN our favorite brewery in not only California but the entire west coast. Located in the beautiful mountains, just outside of San Diego, Alpine is THE destination for hoppy beers.
Firestone Walker Brewing Co.
Location: Paso Robles, California
Favorite Beer: Twenty-One
When Firestone Walker said “beer runs deeper than blood”, they weren’t kidding. These guys put their heart and souls into their brew and we can’t help but respect it. Similar to Russian River, Firestone specializes in aged barrel brew. They take longer to make, but are damn worth the results! We see this style of beer making growing in the near future and these guys will be among the pioneers of the whole thing.
Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
Location: Chico, California
Favorite Beer: Torpedo Extra IPA
Sierra Nevada is one of those larger breweries that are better for tours and tastings, rather than a hang out spot. That doesn’t mean you can’t take a load off, Sierra Nevada has their “Big Room” for sitting down with friends and brew and the “Torpedo Room” for events. Whether you’re a fan of large spots or intimate hangouts, Sierra Nevada is a great place to explore the wonderful world of craft beer.
Heretic Brewing Company
Location: Fairfield, California
Favorite Beer: Evil 3
Heretic is a super chill place that offers free tours on weekend afternoons. Combine that with their $5 beers at “The Confessional”. Now we have to get into the food situation. Depending on availability, you can choose between small snacks and the awesome food trucks that come around. We advise going with the food truck. The times aren’t always the most consistent to our knowledge, but they’re usually there during the day. All in all, Heretic offers a fun spot for people of all ages.
Knee Deep Brewing Company
Location: Auburn, California
Favorite Beer: Breaking Bud
This is a good spot for getting unique beer. They definitely have their own distinct style for their blends and flavors that kind of trickles down into their brand and brewery. Their hours are good, usually open from early afternoon to 9 or 10 and they have most of their beers available on tap. So whether you’re looking for a matinee or a fun night out, you can find it at Knee Deep. They also have events like live music and such, so it’s a fun place you can go to more than just once.
In addition to grabbing some good brew, you can grab some burgers, hot dogs, or pizza at one of their food trucks. We’ve yet to find a brewery with a bad food truck, so that’s what we call the whole package.
Uncommon Brewers
Location: Santa Cruz, California
Favorite Beer: The Whiskey Thief
We think Uncommon is the best spot in Santa Cruz. The beer is excellent, and environment is very chill, so it feels very inviting. But the best part is the food because Uncommon goes above and beyond for good eats for a little step up from a food truck. While you try different beers, you can head over to the Oasis Tasting Room and Kitchen. Everything from the burgers to the soup is delicious for very reasonable prices.
Moonraker Brewing Co.
Location: Auburn, California
Favorite Beer: The Holy Hermit
Moonraker Brewing is a relatively new, award-winning brewery in Auburn. It’s only about 2 years old, but they have made quite a name for themselves as a premier craft brewery, especially their Indian pale ales! Their barrel room is a fun spot to try new beers on tap, which tend to change.
But what makes them more impressive is the food. They have different vendors that come in, ranging from seafood to lamb, barbecue, Mexican and so on. We recommend visiting a few times and enjoying different kinds of eats. There really is something to be said for certain beers going with certain food, kind of like wine.
